OSCPA Educational Foundation awards $40,950 in scholarships

The OSCPA has announced its 2023 scholarship recipients – awarding $40,950 to 37 accounting students across Oklahoma.
Generous contributions from businesses, communities and, most importantly, OSCPA members allow the Society’s Educational Foundation to reward accounting students for their academic achievements and provide financial stability for those pursuing a career in accounting as a CPA.
Scholarships range from $500 to $4,000. In additional to general scholarships, the OSCPA proudly offers 10 named scholarships to accounting students with significant achievements:
- Beale Family Scholarship
Awarded to Connor Wilson from Oklahoma State University
Named after the Beale Family, partners with the OSCPA's preferred insurance provider, Beale Professional Service, now part of 3000 Insurance Group. It is awarded to a full-time accounting student who has completed a minimum of 60 college credits, including 15 credits in accounting. - Henry Bickerstaff Scholarship
Awarded to BreAnna Pennington from Southwestern Oklahoma State University
Awarded to outstanding accounting students residing in or attending a university located in northwestern Oklahoma. - Micah B. Steelman Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to Skyler Bowen from the University of Central Oklahoma
Named after a dedicated professional with a passion for mentoring University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) students.Awarded to a UCO student pursuing a degree in accounting, expressing a primary interest in tax. - OSCPA Oklahoma City Chapter Scholarship
Awarded to Kurtas Edmonds from the University of Oklahoma
Awarded to a student attending a college located in Oklahoma, Canadian, Kingfisher, Lincoln or Logan county. - Retha Duggan Scholarship
Awarded to Ashlyn Schilling from Southwestern Oklahoma State University
Named after a former executive director of the OSCPA and is based on funds provided by the OSCPA. Where possible, preference is given to applicants who have been admitted to a Master of Accountancy program. - Rick Kells Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to Christopher Haynes from Oklahoma Baptist University
Named after a dedicated CPA and attorney who contributed greatly to the ongoing education of tax professionals. Awarded to an accounting student working part-time while attending school full-time who intends on pursuing a career in tax. - Robin Byford Scholarship
Awarded to Sarah Blumer from Oklahoma State University
Awarded to a full-time accounting student who is attending Oklahoma State University. - Rodney and Janice Gray Scholarship
Awarded to Nora Gayler and Mackenna Knapp from East Central University
Awarded to outstanding accounting students attending East Central University or the University of Oklahoma. - Ruthann Fairbairn Scholarship
Awarded to C.D. Smith from Oklahoma City University
Named after a dedicated CPA devoted to furthering female professionals. It is awarded each year to up to two female accounting students at an Oklahoma college or university. - Thomas Fund Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to Shalei Okamura from Cameron University
Named for Jess Thomas, CPA, who served on the OSCPA Educational Foundation. Awarded to a full-time accounting student attending either UCO or Cameron University.
