Last month, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt signed SB 171 into law, modernizing the process to sit for the CPA Examination in the state by allowing accounting graduates to take the CPA Exam during their post-graduate studies.
The Oklahoma Accountancy Board (OAB) has outlined its plan for CPA Exam candidates to begin testing with 120 hours of college credit.* Changes are expected to take place on Nov. 1, 2023.
Requirements to sit for the CPA Exam:

Requirements to obtain a CPA License
Although these changes are planned for CPA applicants, no changes have been made to the requirements for CPA Licensure. Requirements for licensure include:
Minimum of 150 hours of college including a bachelor's degree |
Minimum of 30 hours of accounting above principals including one course of auditing or assurance |
Passed all four parts of the CPA Exam |
Completed the AICPA Ethics Exam with a score of 90% or higher |
Completed 1,800 hours of work experience in accounting as described in Section 15.9(E) of the Act within the last four years |
*Please note: CPA candidates must still complete the full 150 academic hours for CPA licensure in Oklahoma as in the case in each of the other 50 states. Adhering to the Uniform Accountancy Act 150-hour requirement provides Oklahoma CPAs with practice mobility, or the privilege to practice in all other states without having to obtain an additional license to practice.
