Farewell, Patty!
December 29, 2022
The OSCPA wishes past Chief Operating Officer (COO) Patty Hurley a happy retirement as she concludes her long and successful career with the Society.
Patty Hurley is an Oklahoma City native, graduating from Putnam City High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) in 1979. After graduating, she joined Oklahoma City TV Station KOCO as its public service director.
Just five years later, in 1984, she started her career with the OSCPA—where she has since spent the past 38 years building lasting relationships across the accounting profession with Oklahoma CPAs, the Society and many others.
Aside from her duties as COO, Hurley has also dedicated much of her time at the OSCPA heading the Society’s Peer Review Program.
Although her long and distinguished career with the OSCPA speaks for itself, her hard work and service has earned Hurley a seat at the table with an exclusive group, which is telling of her accomplishments.
In 2017, Hurley was awarded the OSCPA’s highest honor by being inducted into the Oklahoma Accounting Hall of Fame. She is only the third non-CPA to hold the honor, behind long-time OSCPA Executive Directors Retha Dugan and Daryl Hill. In fact, just 64 individuals have received the honor since 1968.
“Patty has not only been instrumental to our past successes at the OSCPA, but also in preparing us to be successful in the future,” OSCPA Executive Director Blaine Peterson, CPA, said. “Her impact has left us with an extraordinary standard to follow.”
The OSCPA formally celebrated Hurley’s retirement on Dec. 7, 2022, at the Society’s new office space in Oklahoma City. Members, staff and friends joined together to say their farewell to the longtime COO before she officially retired on Dec. 31, 2022.
