Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides strategic and operational leadership for core financial functions across a multi-entity, multi-fund organization, including federally funded debt and equity funds and programs. This executive role is responsible for financial planning, forecasting, treasury functions, internal controls, compliance reporting, audits, and client financial communications. The CFO leads and mentors a finance and administrative team to ensure high performance, integrity, and compliance.
The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of multi-organizational accounting and multi-fund structures and will work closely with loan and equity teams, as well as external service providers, to ensure accurate, timely, and transparent financial management.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Oversight
- Oversee and manage all core financial activities across the organization and its funds, including fund accounting, valuations, IRR/MOIC performance metrics, capital draws, and deployments.
- Supervise the preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP/GASB.
- Prepare reports in compliance with U.S. Treasury guidelines.
- Manage investment waterfalls and carried interest allocations.
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Provide financial leadership across multiple corporate and fund entities, including equity and federally funded vehicles.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
- Deliver timely, accurate financial reports and dashboards to leadership and clients.
- Monitor fund expenses and ensure compliance with multiple client agreements.
Reporting & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), including reporting, allowable costs, and record-keeping.
- Oversee audits for federally funded programs and internal financial audits; serve as primary liaison with auditors.
- Prepare quarterly and annual reports to federal agencies (e.g., U.S. Treasury) and other funders as required.
Cash & Investment Management
- Manage working capital, idle cash, and investment reserves across multiple entities.
- Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure responsible financial stewardship.
- Optimize fund liquidity, disbursement timing, and interest income opportunities.
Leadership & Staff Management
- Lead a high-performing finance and administrative team, including two accountants, a contracted fund administrator, and an office manager.
- Oversee tax preparation processes (external tax firm prepares filings; CFO provides records).
- Foster professional development, clear roles, and accountability within the finance team.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to align financial operations with program needs.
Client & Partner Engagement
- Communicate clearly and effectively with clients, funders, and investment partners about financial health, performance, and compliance.
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to clients and leadership.
- Support colleagues in executing equity investments and credit support transactions.
- Represent the organization in client meetings as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA or CFA credential required.
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership, with at least 3 years in a senior financial role.
- Proven experience managing multiple entities and complex fund structures, including equity and federal funds.
- Expertise in federal grant and contract management, Uniform Guidance, and audit processes.
- Ability to perform all accounting functions and financial statement preparation.
- Strong track record in accounting operations, cash management, and team leadership.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- High ethical standards and commitment to transparency and accountability.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $145,000 – $175,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications).
