Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

THE POSITION

  • Reports to:  Exec. VP, Chief Operating Officer. Also reporting to the COO.
  • Responsible for: Serving as a key member of the senior management team and providing leadership to the finance, accounting/financial reporting, purchasing and facility management functions. Also, serves as a non-voting member of the Board of Directors with responsibility for Board minutes, financial packets, and corporate records. Key areas of responsibility include financial planning and budgeting, and associated cost control and financial margin management.
  • Supervises: Small staff, including the Accounting Manager, Purchasing Manager and Facility Manager

KEY FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES Key areas of responsibility include:

  1. Business planning – working with the senior management team.
  2. Financial planning and analysis, forecasting and budgeting, and cash management.
  3. Cash forecasting and cash and working capital management.
  4. Financial reporting and related interpretation and analysis.
  5. Operational and capital budgeting and associated cost control.
  6. Relationship management with banks and financial institutions.
  7. Financial policy development and application.
  8. Oversight of investment activities and results by the Foundation.
  9. Compliance with regulations and standards pertaining to financial and administrative functions.
  10. Internal controls development and maintenance.
  11. Audit and tax planning, scheduling and coordination.
  12. Oversight of the purchasing and facility management functions.

Candidate Qualifications/Profile

1. Education – Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • Graduate work in Finance or an MBA – considered a plus.

2. Certification – CPA - desirable.

– At least 15 years of related experience including, or leading up to, CFO responsibility in a well-established and successful organization.

  • Related experience in a similar healthcare organization -preferred.
  • Related experience in the oversight of purchasing, facility management and investment activity - preferred.
  • Prefer related experience with Great Plains accounting and EPIC financial management software.
  • Prefer related experience in public accounting.
