- Changes in the U.S. and Global Economies in 2025

Steven Agee

Steven C. Agee, Ph.D., earned his B.B.A. majoring in economics at O.U. and his M.A. and P.h.D. in economics from the University of Kansas. He started an oil and gas exploration and production company in Oklahoma City in 1982 and ran it for 24 years. That company sold in 2006, at which time Dr. Agee joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Oklahoma City Branch, as a director and served in that capacity for 6 years. Dr. Agee also joined that faculty in the Meinders School of Business at Oklahoma City University in 2007. He became Dean of the Meinders School of Business in the fall of 2010 and served in the capacity for 11 years. Steve is now Dean Emeritus and Professor of Economics at OCU.

This presentation will start with an assessment of the U.S. and global economies as of the end of 2024. We will then move into the change in administration and the Trump tariffs, and the impact these tariffs are having on the domestic and world economies. We will analyze the formula used by the Trump administration to calculate the tariffs on each country and the efficacy of these tariffs.

Upon completing this session, a learner will be able to:

  • Understand where the U.S economy stand at the end of the Biden administration
  • Understand how the U.S economy has been impacted by the Trump tariffs
  • Understand the current state of the economy as of the day of the presentation
