Meet Marisa Gibbs, CPA

A mom of three boys, a problem-solver, and dedicated leader, Marisa Gibbs, CPA, has built her career around growth, both for her clients and the people around her. A graduate of Oklahoma Christian University, she began her career at HoganTaylor as an intern and has risen to senior manager, helping lead the firm’s nonprofit niche. She plays a key role in staff development, training, and client service, always emphasizing mentorship and professional growth.

Alongside her work, Marisa stays active in her community and balances a busy family life. She volunteers with local nonprofits and enjoys making memories with her family—whether at sports events, traveling, or returning to her favorite spot, Walt Disney World.

What She Has to Say

OSCPA: Why did you decide to become a CPA? 

Gibbs: I became a CPA for several reasons. My dad was a CPA, so I was exposed to the profession early on. I’ve always loved puzzles, solving problems, and working with numbers, so accounting naturally made sense. For a while, I thought I’d stay in accounting without becoming a CPA, but two of my mentors at HoganTaylor encouraged me to take the exam, and I’m so glad they did. Becoming a CPA has opened so many more opportunities throughout my career, and I’ve genuinely enjoyed every stage of the journey so far.

OSCPA: What has been your proudest moment in your career so far? 

Gibbs: The proudest moments in my career center around the people I work with and the growth I’ve experienced along the way. I’m proud of the dedication I’ve had to developing my team and helping grow our department. I’m also proud of how I’ve progressed in my career in my 11 years at HoganTaylor, all while balancing being a mom to my three boys. Being able to grow professionally while being present for my family means a lot to me.

OSCPA: What do you hope to accomplish in your career? 

Gibbs: What I hope to accomplish in my career is continuing to mentor and train the next generation of professionals, just like others invested their time in me. I also want to continue helping my clients navigate complex situations and continue to provide top-tier service. By being a part of the HoganTaylor Growth Cohort for 2026, I hope to continue developing as a trusted business advisor and an asset to the firm. Beyond that, it’s important to me that my career shows my kids the value of hard work, commitment, and taking pride in what you do.
