A Look Back at the 2024 Annual Members Meeting

On June 24-25, the OSCPA hit the jackpot with its much-anticipated Annual Members Meeting at the WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma. This event was a royal flush, drawing CPAs from across the state for a winning combination of education, networking, and celebrating achievements of the past year.

Anteing Up Education and Connections

This year's Annual Members Meeting dealt out a series of informative and engaging CPE sessions from educators and experts, including AICPA Chair Carla McCall, CPA. Attendees upped their game by expanding their knowledge on various topics relevant to the accounting profession, including:

  • Transformation & Growth Through Uncertainty, presented by AICPA Chair Carla McCall, CPA
  • Tribal Contribution to the Oklahoma Economy, presented by Dr. Kyle Dean with Oklahoma City University
  • Facilitating Learning: Information Workplace Interventions, presented by Dr. Beth Adele with Oklahoma City University
  • Work-Life Balance: Let Me Show You How, presented by Raychel Clark, CPA, with W&W - AFCO Steel
  • Ethically Obligated & Morally Bound, presented by James Small, CPA, with Carrefour Associates 

In between sessions, members enjoyed exchanging ideas and building lasting connections. Members, speakers, and sponsors all let the good times roll and enjoyed the lively atmosphere at WinStar Casino.

Passing the Baton

A highlight of the meeting was the formal handoff of the OSCPA Board of Directors' chairmanship. Ross McKinney, CPA, was officially welcomed as the new chair, taking the reins from the outgoing chair, Vicky Petete, CPA. This transition marks a new chapter for the OSCPA, with McKinney set to lead the organization with fresh energy and vision.

Past Chair Vicky Petete, CPA was honored during the Annual Business Luncheon for her dedication to the OSCPA and enthusiasm for the accounting profession.

The meeting also provided a moment to honor and celebrate Past Chair Vicky Petete, CPA, for her dedication and service to the OSCPA. Petete's leadership has been instrumental in guiding the organization through a period of growth and adaptation. 

In her farewell address to a packed house of OSCPA members, Petete expressed her gratitude for the support she received during her tenure and shared her optimism for the future of the OSCPA under McKinney's leadership. Her words resonated, highlighting the strong sense of unity and shared purpose within the OSCPA as we look toward the future.

Rolling the Dice on a Positive Future

The OSCPA's Annual Members Meeting was a reminder of the importance of continuous learning and professional development. It also doubled down on the value of strong leadership and the unbreakable bonds that connect the CPA community in Oklahoma.

With Chair Ross McKinney, CPA, as our ace in the hole, the OSCPA is poised to continue its mission of supporting and advancing the accounting profession in the state. The enthusiasm and engagement displayed at the WinStar Casino gathering are a sure bet of the organization's vibrant and dedicated membership.

This year's event was a winning hand - blending education, networking, and celebration in a way that left attendees feeling like high rollers. As the organization moves forward, it does so with a renewed sense of purpose and a commitment to excellence in the accounting profession. The OSCPA is all in for the future!
