Q&A with Brady Ross
OSCPA: Why should members attend your session?
Ross: Many people hold misconceptions about self-care that negatively affect not only themselves, but the people around them. When we have a proper understanding about how to refill our cups, we can not only build sustainable habits for our own long-term health and growth, but also for the benefit of others.
OSCPA: How did you come to be an expert on coaching leaders to prioritize their well-being?
Ross: I’ve been coaching for almost five years now. During that time, I’ve noticed that high-performers are often willing to sacrifice their own well-being for others, not recognizing the negative pay-off that impacts both themselves and others. Through research, experience, and personal application, I’ve discovered several effective mindsets and approaches that can reverse this trend and position individuals for greater success.
OSCPA: Is there anything you think is unique to your session on Refill Your Cup: Self-Care for Thriving Leaders?
Ross: This session won’t only benefit the people who attend, but also their teams, organizations, and families. When the leader gets better, everyone gets better. You’re serving those around you well by choosing to attend this session and by implementing the lessons you learn.
OSCPA: What do you hope attendees will take away from your session?
Ross: In addition to the idea that self-care is not selfish (which I feel like we’ve covered in the earlier questions), I would stress the idea that self-care requires proactivity. It’s not something we can put off until we feel like we need it or until it seems more urgent.
OSCPA: What drove you to found Clear Path Leadership?
Ross: I’ve long been fascinated by the idea of leadership. To me, leadership reflects the idea that a person can visualize a better future and not only take the steps to achieve that future, but also bring others along with them for the journey. Leaders believe that tomorrow can be better than today, and are willing to sacrifice in order to make their vision a reality. I want to help people learn to lead better, because to me, that makes our community better for everyone who lives here.
