Williams: The landscape of CPA ethics continues to evolve as business transactions and systems change. Attendees will gain knowledge of dealing with these changes in an ethical manner by reviewing actual cases from the AICPA PEEC Enforcement Subcommittee
OSCPA: How have you come to be so passionate about ethics?
Williams: My passion for ethics is based on the demands and respect the CPA credential commands in the marketplace. We hold a position as a trusted adviser and it's incumbent upon all of us to uphold this critical role in our economy.
OSCPA: What has been your experience at the Oklahoma Tax Institute in the past as an attendee? As a speaker?
Williams: The Oklahoma Tax Institute is a unique conference catering to the special needs of tax practitioners. As a speaker, it is a challenge for me to bring the most impactful information for those attending. As an attendee, it is a great opportunity to share and interact with my friends and colleagues.
OSCPA: Is there anything you think is unique to you and your session over ethics?
Williams: Yes, my unique approach to ethics speaking is based on experience on the AICPA PEEC and 25 years of research and analysis of our profession's Code of Conduct.
OSCPA: What do you hope attendees will take away from your session
Williams: The primary takeaway for attendees from my session is the awareness they possess when they find themselves in an ethical dilemma. A bonus is that I am available to provide greater clarity and be a resource for them after the conference.
