PEC’s Director of Accounting plays a critical role by maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely reporting. This position collaborates with executive management and other departments for overall leadership of the Cooperative.

Duties:
1. Coordinates and supervises accounting activities in order to prepare and maintain financial records required by PEC’s management, Board of Trustee’s and Lenders.
2. Maintains long-term debt accounts for PEC’s lenders, manages daily cash flow and invests monies as funds are available.
3.Computes Power Cost Adjustment monthly as well as Debt Service Adjustment quarterly.
4. Processes and analyzes monthly and year-end financial reports, including the preparation of the monthly report for the Board of Trustees.
5. Facilitates and compiles annual Cooperative budget to submit for Board approval.
6. Maintains accounting data & funds for any applicable subsidiaries and/or political action committees and prepares financial reports for review by management.
7. Prepares annual Form 7 and other industry and tax reports required by various State, Federal and authoritative bodies.
8. Assists with maintaining Cooperative’s insurance policies in force, requests changes and certificates as necessary, and monitors proper insurance certification for contractors.
9.Monitors and reviews various accounting controls throughout PEC’s system.
10.Responsible for hiring, supervising and evaluating staff members under direct and indirect supervision within the Accounting Department.
11. Oversees PEC’s payroll function to ensure employees are paid according to schedule and that all corresponding payroll tax deposits and reports are paid and filed on a timely basis.
12. Oversees PEC’s Work Order process to ensure all Work Orders are tracked appropriately and closed on a timely basis.
13. Oversees PEC’s Accounts Payable function to ensure that all required payments are paid on a timely basis and accounted for in an appropriate manner.
14. Oversees PEC’s annual audit, working with PEC’s auditors to ensure that all necessary information is provided to them in a timely and accurate manner.
15. Oversees PEC’s annual tax return filings, providing all necessary information to the accounting firm to ensure the return is properly and timely filed.
16. Oversees and maintains PEC’s Capital Credit accounts, including the annual allocation and retirement processes.
17. Oversees and assists with various projects of the Cooperative that arise from time to time, ensuring proper accounting practices and reporting are maintained.
18.Performs all other necessary duties to assure effective workflow and realization of departmental goals and objectives.
