Senior Accountant position will perform a variety of professional accounting duties focusing on preparation of accounting reports and analyses. Utilizes formal training in accounting principles and practices providing input to assist senior management in making prudent financial decisions.

Who You Are:

  • Must have strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Well-developed written and oral skills with ability to effectively present information either in one-on-one situations or in groups.
  • Advanced mathematical requirements required (calculations and concepts involving decimals, percentages, fractions, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy is a must.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize duties to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Interpersonal disposition to work cooperatively and politely with co-workers and other associates. Ability to handle situations in a calm and resolute manner.

What You’ll Do

  • Devises and implements system for general accounting.
  • Supervises balancing, reconciling of bank accounts and ACH (Automated Clearing House) transactions including bank accounts, Corporate, Federal Reserve, and other banking links the credit union utilizes.
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected credit union financial position.
  • Evaluates subsidiary journals for errors or omissions and enters adjustments in the general ledger. Executes monthly closing entries.
  • Prepares, verifies, and controls the entering of journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Establishes, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar position with a familiarity of Regulatory reporting for a financial institution.
  • Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job required.
  • CPA Preferred but not required
