This event is recommended for eight hours of CPE.

Shalynne Jackson, Chief Inclusion & Diversity Officer, City of Oklahoma City Office of Management & Budget

Shalynne Jackson

Shalynne Jackson serves as the City of Oklahoma City’s (OKC) first Chief Inclusion and Diversity Officer. Prior to joining the City of OKC, Shalynne supported strategic I&D initiatives for multiple Fortune 500 companies. She has served on various boards and is currently the Diversity Chair for the Oklahoma Human Resources State Council (OKHR); serves on Schnake Turnbo Franks’ I&D Advisory Committee; and is on the board of ReMerge - a comprehensive diversion program. A graduate of The University of Oklahoma, Shalynne holds a Master of Human Relations degree. She is also a graduate of Leadership OKC’s class 40. Additionally, she is a qualified administrator for the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), a cross-cultural assessment of intercultural competence.

The American Dream Experience (TADE) is not an ordinary training, but rather an interactive empathy-building board game. Designed to foster awareness and connection, participants get the opportunity to participate in this "perspective-taking" exercise and explore how everyday interactions and long-term opportunities impact people and their pursuit of the American Dream differently.

Learning Objectives:

  • Raise awareness about how people experience life differently based on society's perception of their identities.
  • Identify behaviors that one may not be aware of that could be contributing to an environment that isn't inclusive to others.
  • Empower Human Resources professionals with tools to effectively foster an inclusive environment through their impact on policies, hiring, and overall organizational culture.

- Diverse Minds at Work: Unlocking Potential, Enhancing ADHA Support and Neurodiversity Accommodations for a Thriving Workplace

Monique Bruner

Dr. Monique Miles Bruner , the Vice President of the Campus Resource Center at Rose State College and a true educational superstar! With more degrees than a thermometer and a heart as big as her resume, she’s all about helping students smash their college goals and conquer financial aid hurdles. When she’s not busy being a higher ed hero, Dr. Bruner is out there making a difference with local causes and organizations like OKC Black Chamber of Commerce, the OKC Urban League, Avery Chapel Community Development Corporation, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She recently flexed her impressive leadership skills by completing the U.S. Department of Justice FBI Citizens Academy and joining the Honorary Commander Program at Tinker Air Force Base. Off duty, she’s a family-loving puzzle aficionado who still dabbles in the art of letter writing.

Diverse Minds at Work: Unlocking Potential, Enhancing ADHD Support, and Neurodiversity Accommodations for a Thriving Workplace is designed to deepen understanding of neurodiversity and its significance in the workplace. This presentation will define neurodiversity as a natural variation in human neurological development, highlighting conditions such as ADHD, autism, and dyslexia. Attendees will explore the prevalence of ADHD and other neurodiverse conditions in the workplace, including specific statistics for Oklahoma, and recognize how many employees may go undiagnosed. The program will emphasize the benefits of supporting neurodiverse employees and provide actionable strategies for creating an inclusive, thriving work environment that enhances productivity and innovation.
