Students get to know the profession

2022 Career Development Workshop

Last Wednesday, the OSCPA hosted its annual Career Development Workshop (formerly known as Career Night).

At the Workshop, accounting students were able to tune in virtually to learn about the public accounting profession, practice their networking skills and ask current CPAs their burning questions about a career in accounting.

The Workshop began with an overview of OSCPA student membership benefits and the ways students can use them to receive discounted exam preparation materials, take free mock CPA exams and earn scholarship money.

Next, the event's keynote speaker, OSCPA President and CEO Blaine Peterson, CPA, delivered a presentation about the the CPA certification, accounting career prospects and trends in the profession.

The students then had access to a panel of CPAs working in a variety of fields. The students asked about the decision to work in public accounting or industry and how firms have managed their tax season expectations amid the impacts of COVID-19.

To complete the evening, prizes were drawn, including a FREE Elite Unlimited Full Package Course (retails at $2,999) from U World | Roger CPA Review.
