Key Person Program

OSCPA's Key Person Program is an important supplement to the efforts of the OSCPA lobbyist and staff in Oklahoma City because:

• It reinforces to legislators that the views expressed by the OSCPA Lobbyist and staff are representative of the views of the legislator's constituents in the district.
  
• It heightens the legislator's accountability to his/her constituents and provides a double avenue to influence public policy decisions.
  
• It localizes and personalizes the political impact of state legislation.

• Take immediate action to contact the legislator concerning a particular legislative issue when the OSCPA makes the request.
  
• Maintain personal contact with the assigned legislator and program coordinator.
  
• Give a brief report on the nature and results of each contact to the program coordinator.
  
• Attend political fund-raising events and deliver PAC contributions when requested.
  
• Attend chapter legislator recognition functions and any OSCPA sponsored legislative conferences.
  
• Support the position of the OSCPA on specific bills affecting the accounting profession.
  
• See that contacts with legislators are made on schedule.

Responsibilities of the Key Person Program Coordinator

• Answer questions, provide information and counsel key persons.
• Recruit key persons and their replacements. The recruiting effort should be directed toward having key persons in all legislative districts.
  
• Attend chapter legislator recognition functions and any OSCPA sponsored legislative conferences.
  
• Attend political fund-raising events and deliver PAC contributions when requested.
  
• Assist in the distribution of OSCPA correspondence to appropriate key person contacts.
